Air India along with global airlines hacked; compromising the details of 45 lakh users

Air India along with other global airlines are hit up by the cyber attacks compromising the data of 45 lakh users.

On Friday, the national carrier informed the passengers about the same in a statement stating the server – SITA PSS – responsible for processing and storing the personal details of the users is compromised due to the data breach.

The registered data involved between August 26, 2011, and February 20, 2021, is compromised in the data breach. The major details like passport details, contact information, date of birth, name, Star Alliance, ticket information, Air India, etc. are compromised along with the credit card data. The details leaked are from the airlines Finnair, Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and Lufthansa.

Air India released the statement, “This is to inform that SITA PSS our data processor of the passenger service system (which is responsible for storing and processing of personal information of the passengers) had recently been subjected to a cybersecurity attack leading to personal data leak of certain passengers. This incident affected around 4,500,000 data subjects in the world,”
