People protesting the restart of Kansai Electric Power Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 (back left) = Mihama Town, Fukui Prefecture, on the afternoon of the 23rd

On the 23rd, about 200 people from inside and outside the prefecture gathered around the Kansai Electric Power Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 (Mihama Town, Fukui Prefecture), which was the first nuclear power plant to restart under the current rules for more than 40 years. A protest demonstration was held with a voice saying, “Restart, absolute opposition.” Meanwhile, local business people welcomed it as “relieved.”

The demonstrators marched in front of the town hall and the Kanden Nuclear Power Division, in addition to the area around the nuclear power plant, with banners and flags stating “Don’t move the old nuclear power plant.” We submitted a request to Kanden for the immediate shutdown and decommissioning of Mihama Unit 3.
