On the 25th, TEPCO held a regional briefing session on Unit 7 of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant (Niigata Prefecture), which aims to restart, in Kashiwazaki City, the same prefecture. The outline of the pre-startup inspection of the reactor was shown, and the understanding for restarting was requested. However, there were a series of dissenting opinions from the participating residents. There was no opinion in favor.

Representative Masaya Tachibana of TEPCO Niigata Headquarters and Takeo Ishii, Director of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, attended. Based on the fact that the safety measures work was virtually completed this month, the company announced a plan to carry out “fuel loading” to put nuclear fuel into the reactor as part of the pre-start inspection from March to April.

Residents also commented that the local government said, “I’m waiting for consent, but I can’t agree,” and “I can’t leave bad information to TEPCO.”
