Gmail integrates Rooms and Google Chat for free Google account

Google has come up with the Gmail integration with Google Chat and Rooms to the Google Meet on the platform. The integration of Rooms and Chat was earlier available for the enterprise users but now the feature will be available on the personal Gmail accounts as the integrated workspace.

The motive of the search engine giant is to help users to work from home without switching the tabs of Google Chat and Rooms. Now Gmail will have four tabs including Chat, Meet, Mail, and Rooms.

This will help the users to make the small group and streamline the tasks with the team or individuals easily while assigning tasks, sharing files, and interacting with each other. Android will have the tabs at the bottom bar where the web version will have the sidebar in four sections where users can easily access them.

The Rooms and Chat functionalities are the same as the Google Chat app where users can delete the chat too.

The features are not yet available on iOS with no surety of when they will be out. But Android users can use the features while enabling “Early Access” on the device and Google Accounts.

Here are the quick steps to enable it.

  • Just open Gmail > Settings > Personal Gmail Account > General > Chat (Early Access) > Try It. This will relaunch the Gmail application and a prompt will turn off the notification from the Chat app.
  • Visit gmail.com and then click on Google Chat (Early Access) then click on the pop-up box – Confirm.
