HMD launches a flagship Nokia 5G smartphone and Global Data SIM card

Nokia’s parent company, HMD Global has revealed a new Nokia-branded smartphone and global data SIM in an online-only event yesterday. The all-new Nokia 8.3 5G is a flagship device that comes with a quad-camera with ZEISS certification.

The Nokia 8.3 5G is a futureproof device supporting more 5G bands than ever. The device is built around 6.81-inch PureDisplay of FullHD+ resolution. The smartphone is equipped with an HDR panel with Adaptive display that supports adjusting contrast depending on how much light is in the background.

The ZEISS quad-camera comes with 64MP primary sensor and a 12 MP ultra-wide module. The ultra-wide module is designed with a focus on video recording and low-light performance. The pixels can reach 2.8µm in size, it also gets ZEISS cinematic effect giving more control over video recording. The OZO audio and action cam mode can complete the camcorder arsenal.

The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 765G chipset with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and an integrated 5G modem. You get to choose from either 64GB or 128GB storage option with an expandable microSD slot. The smartphone runs on stock Android 10 powered by Android One program. HMD claims that 4500mAh battery can be fast-charged at up to 18W speeds. Nokia 8.3 5G is available only in a single polar night colour option.

Another interesting product that HMD launched yesterday is the global SIM starter kit called HMD Connect. The global SIM comes at a price tag of EUR 19.95 (Rs 1,600). You will get up to 1GB of data for 14 days. The SIM card will work in 120 countries. The company is offering 50% off on the second purchase of the starter kit. The company will start shipping the SIM cards on March 30.
