HTC claims that this is the first smartphone to be able to run bitcoin. HTC has been talking about cryptocurrency smartphone since the announcement of the original Exodus 1. The full node capability means that the smartphone can relay, confirm, and validate bitcoin transactions, which offer more privacy. The smartphone will allow you to contribute to the security of the blockchain network.
However, running full bitcoin node comes with its own set of limitations. HTC recommends connecting the phone to the WiFi and use power spruce to run the full node. You may also have to buy an SD card with capacity of 400GB to hold and power the full capacity bitcoin ledger.
HTC Exodus 1S is powered by an entry level processor along with 4GB of RAM. It features 5.7-inch HD display and 64GB fo internal storage. The device features a single 13 MP primary camera. It does not get any latest standard of USB connectivity. The smartphone features the traditional microUSB port and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Exodus 1S is the company’s ambitious attempt to appeal the niche user group. The smartphone sales have not been great for HTC in the recent years. The cryptocurrency device will not be available in the US. But you can order it from HTC’s site in Europe, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The device is priced at $244, the company is accepting payments in bitcoin, ethereum, binance coin, and litecoin to purchase the smartphone.
