The app called ‘Aarogya Setu’ is developed by the National Informatics Centre which comes under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The app is already available for Android and iOS users. The app helps in tracking coronavirus infection using the GPS and Bluetooth. It helps you identify whether have come in contact of a COVID-19 infected person or not.
Aarogya Setu uses your location data and compares it with the database of infected patients. It also checks whether you have been in the infected areas. The app requires you to keep Bluetooth and GPS on. It determines fi you have been within 6 feet of distance from the infected person.

The earlier record of highest number of downloads was by Nintendo’s popular augmented reality game, Pokemon Go. The game had recorded 50 million downloads in 19 days in 2016. Aarogya Setu recorded the highest peak of 39 million downloads after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to download the app in his 10 am address on Tuesday morning.
The government has made the app available in 11 languages. Various government authorities have been asking citizens to download Aarogya Setu. The app stores all unique interactions only for 30 days, after which the data gets deleted.
