The smartphone maker launched Samsung Galaxy Fold, which folds like a book. The smartphone went on sale after several months of delay. The $2000 smartphone had several issues including defective hinge which broke the screen after removing protective film, this led to the delay in the launch date. At the annual Samsung Developer Conference (SSNLF) on Tuesday, the company teased clamshell form factor.
A video showed on the stage showcased the Galaxy Fold smartphone that transforms from a flip phone that opens vertically. Samsung has not shared many details of the device. However the spokesperson confirmed that the company has been working on advancements of new foldable form factor designs.
Samsung’s head of framework R&D group, Hyresoon Jeong said,
“This brand-new form factor that we’re now exploring will not only easily fit in your pocket, but it also changes the way you use your phone.” The idea is to take the foldable concept and make it more compact.
The tech firm is also working towards improving the software technology. It has been refining the One UI 2 since it debuted the Galaxy Fold device this year. Samsung is working on One UI 2 which was introduced in Galaxy S10 and Note 10 this year.
One UI 2 offers more glanceable information, better reachability for one handed users, and more vibrant hues throughout the OS. Samsung has included animated icons and a full dark mode with the new One UI 2.
