Samsung to launch Galaxy A22 5G at an affordable price tag

The Korean smartphone maker, Samsung has decided to launch at least three Galaxy A-series smartphones. All three smartphones will feature 5G support.

The company will launch the Galaxy A22 5G in the second half of 2021. The device will be positioned as a successor to this year’s Galaxy A21. The second 5G smartphone that will be launched in the first half of 2021 is Galaxy A32 5G. There were rumours about Samsung launching an affordable 5G smartphone in 2021. The launch of Galaxy A22 5G is in line with the company’s vision for affordable 5G phone.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G will be around KRW 200,000 (approx Rs 13,400) while the Galaxy A32 5G will be priced at EUR 299 (approx Rs 26,900). The latter will feature MediaTek 720 5G chipset.

The plan to launch affordable 5G smartphone will help Samsung compete with cheaper brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo. Other than the lacuna timeline, Samsung has not revealed anything else about the smartphone.

The backlash regarding Chinese firm working in design and production of Samsung phones has forced Samsung to stop the ODM order system. The company is now undertaking the JDM (joint development and manufacture) strategy.

Samsung has decided to venture into joint development and manufacturing of Galaxy A22 5G with Chinese firms like Wingtech and Hwachin. The smartphone will be available in emerging markets such as India and Southwest Asian countries.
