WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging applications for mobile phones, however, with WhatsApp Web, one can easily use it on desktops too. Now, the Facebook-owned messaging platform has rolled out a new feature allowing users to enjoy video and voice calling from the desktop.

Undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the popularity of video conferencing applications such as Zoom that allows team members to connect easily over group calls.

Keeping the changing world in mind, WhatsApp rolled out an update that allows users to make the call from their desktop easily. The calls can be done easily on landscape or portrait orientation. It is also a resizable standalone window that makes it easy for the users to have access to the call.

WhatsApp is the application that was in controversy for the privacy policy in India for a few months now. Keeping this in mind, the company is emphasizing end-to-end encryption on the video or voice call on the desktop.

Gradually, the feature will include group calls. However, WhatsApp on the mobile app can add up to 8 members on a call. This number is not yet disclosed by the company.

The motive of the company is to offer a one-to-one calling experience ensuring a high-quality and reliable experience.
