WhatsApp plans to extend the ‘Disappearing Messages’ feature to all members of a WhatsApp group

WhatsApp may extend the disappearing messages feature to WhatsApp group chats. The feature was introduced last year which automatically removed messages which were seven days old. Messages from individual chats are now also extended for group chats and are not restricted to admins only.

As per reports, this feature will be made available to all participants of the WhatsApp group. The disappearing messages feature was first seen in the Android version devices leveraging the instant messaging app. The admins still have the right to disable the feature of disappearing messages from a group chat.

Recently it was cited via a screengrab of “Edit group info” that it is possible to update the feature to showcase recent modifications. The settings now show that the disappearing messages feature is available “All participant’ as well as “Only admins’.

Another anticipated feature of minimising the time for disappearing messages from 7 days to 24 hours is also under process. WhatsApp has already released the beta version for Android users that enables them to view a mention badge whenever they get a message from a particular group with its Mention Badge feature.
