WhatsApp users can soon login the same account on multiple devices; beta version features ‘Linked Devices’

The facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp has released a new Android beta version which allows support for multiple devices. The latest beta gives a glimpse of two anticipated features – advanced search mode and multiple device support.

WhatsApp’s multiple devices support allows using the same account on more than one device at a time. Current version of WhatsApp supports only one device at a time. The support for multiple devices will enable users that need to access the same account on multiple devices.

According to the report by WABetaInfo, the feature will be called ‘Linked Devices’. The feature will be available in the settings menu of WhatsApp. The interface is similar to the WhatsApp Web section. This enables users to see the list of devices that their account is active on. The users can link a new device or log out from any particular linked account.

WhatsApp v2.20.196.8 beta for Android also brings UI improvements for advanced search mode. The screenshots shared by WABetaInfo reveal the new UI improvements. The feature was recently spotted in April. Linked Devices is an under-development feature which may not be available on the stable version yet.

v2.20.80.22 beta for iOS has introduced work-in-progress contacts shortcut feature. The iOS beta was released two weeks ago. The idea of the feature is to create contact shortcut which users will be able to see in their iOS share sheet. The iPhone users will be able to see a small contact bubble of frequent groups whenever they try to share something.

WhatsApp is also bringing improved support for Voice Over. When someone is trying to archive or unarchive a chat, a green bubble is likely to get an update with different shades.
